At a press conference yesterday in Montreal promoting UFC 124: GSP vs. Koscheck II, Dana White himself stated that Jake Shields win over Martin Kampmann will most likely get him a title shot against the winner of GSP vs. Koscheck. Jake Shields did vacate the Strikeforce's middleweight title to jump over with the UFC. Shields is on a 14 win streak with the most recent was against Dan Henderson. I would assume that Shields will need to win in a convincing fashion to become number 1 contender and bump off Jon Fitch. Fitch has tweeted "I say winner of Shields vs. Kampmann fights me for a title shot," Which I think will not be the case at all. There would be more money and hype to see Shields get the title shot.
