Quick Thought

So how about the mess in the middle weight division? First you have Sonnen taking the juice and now Belfort isn’t injured and is fighting Silva for the belt. I think Silva has this fight in the bag! His stand up, ground game, and clinch are far better than Belfort. This fight was basically a quick signed fight to cover for Sonnen. No wonder Sonnen dominated the whole fight right? He was jacked up on testosterone! If you ask me Silva should step up and move on to light heavyweight. I mean he isn’t going to have another good fight in middle weight now the Sonnen is off the roids so what is he waiting for? He already took out Forrest like nothing so he proved he can fight with the big boys. I would love to see an Anderson Silva vs. Rashad Evans fight. All I can wait for is Silva and GSP! The next contender is between Okami and Marquardt. This should be a pretty good fight but I think Marquardt will take it by a decision. Overall Middle Weight is shaping up to look pretty good I guess. I just don’t see Silva getting any real competition any time soon. That’s all for now until next time! Keep your fists up and keep fighting!

  1. It might suck for sonnen, but this is the best thing that could've happened for everyone else. Yushin is still fighting for the next shot at the champ, nate got bumped up, and Vitor got the title shot he had already been promised. Sonnen lost. There was no controversial decision, no bad ref stoppage. Anderson got him in a triangle and made him say uncle. That fight was a rematch in the making, but it shouldn't have been an instant one and i'm glad it didn't happen. Plus, there's no one I'd like to see fight Anderson at 185 more than Vitor. Anderson's got kicks and mad accuracy but Vitor matches his speed and has more power. For sure, we're going to see the tentative, patient Anderson that comes out when he fights worthy opponents. Anderson takes it but he's never fought a striker like Vitor. i'm definitely excited.

  2. As Much as I would like to see Anderson win I think this is the match that will stop his undefeated record. Lets take a look at his last match up, Sonnen rocked Silva, Now I might not be right about this but from what I know Silva has never been in danger like he was with Sonnen. If Sonnen can do that to him imagine what Vitor can do. And sonnen is not that good of a striker to be honest I think Vitor will take out Anderson in the First Round.

  3. Sonnen also had a whole bunch of extra testosterone in his system! Making every aspect of his game that much better. Silva still has this one I think. Vitor is a good fighter but not great like silva

  4. I don't know man. Performance enhancement drugs might've given him the drive to work harder, which probably helped him get cardio and gave him a little more power, but chael is an Olympic wrestler, and it's his wrestling skill that helped him dominate Anderson. I don't think the steroids had that big of a part in his performance other than that it helped him keep the same pace for 5 rounds. As for chael being able to catch Anderson with a couple of shots in the stand up, I think it had more to do with Anderson anticipating a takedown, and worrying more about sprawling than head movement. Chael mixed it up really well and it allowed him to clip Anderson a couple of times. Plus, silva had a rib injury and limited upper body movement might've played a factor as well. I'm just saying, without the threat of a takedown, don't expect Vitor to catch silva as easy as chael did. With that said, the best striker Anderson has faced is Franklin, and though he did it in a convincing manner, so did Vitor (machida being the only other person to ko/tko rich), so it's yet to be proven whether Anderson does have the advantage in the striking department. He might have a superior kicking game, but the perfect counter to a kick is a perfectly timed punch. I'm going Anderson but it's going to be competitive. I can guarantee you he won't fight with his hands down.
